Über den Autor
Darrell Schweitzer is an American writer, editor, critic, and essayist best known for his work in dark fantasy, horror, science fiction, and weird fiction. Born in 1952, he became an important figure in modern speculative literature through his fiction, criticism, interviews, anthologies, and editorial work. His writing includes novels, short fiction, poetry, essays, and studies of major authors in the field, with particular attention to H. P. Lovecraft, Lord Dunsany, Robert E. Howard, and the traditions of fantasy and supernatural literature.Schweitzer is especially associated with Weird Tales, where he served as co-editor with George H. Scithers and John Gregory Betancourt, later as sole editor, and then again as co-editor during the magazine's later revival. His long connection with Weird Tales made him one of the central custodians of the magazine's post-pulp legacy, helping carry its tradition of horror, fantasy, and strange fiction into the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. He shared in a 1992 World Fantasy Award special professional award for Weird Tales, and his broader career as a critic, editor, and author has made him a respected figure in the literature of the fantastic.
