Beschreibung
Approaching the topic through qualitative research methods, film analyses and theories of Cultural Studies, the portrayals of cultural stereotypes regarding South India in contemporary mainstream Hindi Cinema are discussed. Hindi Cinema, or otherwise called Bollywood characterises a North Indian based, but a pan-Indian film industry that reaches the masses of the people in India and beyond. Three examples of popular Hindi films were studied based on their stories playing in the Southern states of India. The book attempts to show what and how stereotypes, prejudices and cultural differences of North and South India are depicted in the three examples.
